Earth Day 2023

April 22 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator, Gaylord Nelson as an environmental education day first held on April 22, 1970. While this first Earth Day was focused on the United States, an organisation launched by Denis Hayes, launched it globally in 1990 and organised events in 141 nations.

Earth Day is now coordinated by the Earth Day Network, and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year. April 22 corresponds to spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Many communities also celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 in a different nation every year, remains the principle United Nations date observed for global environmental issues.
