The 10th annual Hog Charge event has raised
Ksh 2, 776,308 for the Rhino Ark Aberdare Fence.
Held
at the Kahawa Sukari Ranch, Ruiru, on Sunday 27th
April, it attracted 83 teams from over 17 schools.
Children from different schools participated in
this event and hundreds of supportive parents
and friends attended.
Hog Charge has raised over Ksh 13 million for
Rhino Ark since the first event in 1999.
A boy’s team known as the Kikoy Kangaroos
from Pembroke House raised the highest sponsorship
of Ksh 373,500 followed by the Rocky Riders from
Kenton College in Under 12 Mixed Category who
raised Ksh 80,000. Third place was taken up by
another boys’ team, the Racing Rhinos from
Pembroke House having raised Ksh 79,000.
Pembroke House School raised Ksh915, 365 outdoing
runner up Peponi Schools and Kenton College in
third place.
Mr. Paul Mbugua, Assistant Director Education
for Kenya Wildlife Service gave away the prizes.
“This event is bringing conservation awareness
to our young people,” said Mr. Mbugua. There
is no better way to ensure the older generation
take the conservation of our forests seriously,”
Mr. Mbugua told the children.
“Special thanks from Rhino Ark to the main
event organisers -Rhino Charge Car 35, Peponi
School which hosts and organises the day’s
activities and Brookside Dairies the main sponsor.”

cheerful and hardworking kids who made this fund-raise
